Tomorrow marks the end of the first school term of the year. The boys can't wait for tomorrow to come and er, end so that school holidays can start mah.
Ten weeks of school have literally zoomed by. I thought it was not so long ago that I blogged about Ewan's first day at school. From not liking school so much (he kept comparing it to his carefree kindergarten days) to accepting that this new way of life, especially spelling on every Friday, is here to stay. He has made many friends and he loves to share about his day at school, the good and the bad. I love to see him getting excited about new experiences like gymnastics and computer lessons and even mass (we aren't Catholics). There was a thanksgiving mass this morning and Ewan was so fascinated by the entire process. He told me about the Father who conducted the mass, the altar boys in white gowns and that he knelt down to pray.
The highlight for Ethan in Term One must be the opportunity to learn Chinese painting during art class. He was in fact chosen to do a panda painting as part of an album put together as a gift to a VIP. He was so disappointed when he missed the last lesson this past Wednesday because he was running a fever. He actually made a brave effort to get ready for school but it was not meant to be.
As for myself, I definitely like the fact that both boys are in school at the same time! Quite mornings are a blessing ;-) I'm a parent volunteer now - helping out at the school library during recess as well as reading to kids who are developing readers. My boys come by when I have library duty. Ewan will always bring a different friend to introduce to me. Ethan will forgo playing catching to come and see me. Very sweet of them really.
I can't think of anything to write about papa and Term One except that with his new shift pattern this year, we have more opportunities to go out in the morning alone, yes, without the kids tagging along ;-)
It has been a fast but surely a blessed term. Thank you Lord.
