Not Quite Like Christmas

Blame it all on the painting project I guess. Our energy and enthusiasm for anything else is zapped up by this prolonged task. Ok, the destination is sighted at last: we are left with only one side of the living room wall (where the damn heavy TV is in front of it and we have not figured out a way to move it yet) and all the doors. It certainly didn't help that papa hurt his back in the process, misplaced his key pouch and has to report to work on Christmas day.

Because we were painting, the christmas tree isn't put up this year. Ewan asked for a treasure hunt which we planned for the kids last Christmas. Sorry lah, I really couldn't muster up any energy to do so. The presents were put on the dining table instead and this morning, the kids woke up to open the presents eagerly. Papa left for work in the afternoon and to make up for this un-special Christmas, I took the kids to the park. Ethan had fun on his new bike which we bought for him yesterday as a Christmas present. It is a more sophisticated bike and he felt grown up to ride it. Ewan "officially" took over Ethan's old bike. He is okay with this arrangement since Ethan let him ride on the new bike whenever he asked. The boys enjoyed themselves at the park: made new friends and watched the stunt bikers practising. You wouldn't believe me if I told you they weren't tempted to try out those stunts for themselves.

Oh well, that's Christmas for me. How was yours?
