A Prize for Ethan

Today we attended the prize giving ceremony in Ethan's school. Here you see him receiving his prize from his VP for being 2nd in class. Coincidentally he was 2nd last year too. His prize is a Roald Dahl book. See what he did? Ripped off the award label to read the first page ;-)

Papa worked overnight yesterday and naturally he slept through the speeches by the principal and the guest of honour ;-) But hey, what is important is that he made it a point to show up and give support to his son. I on the other hand, listened with interest what the guest of honour had to say. He is a "brother" in the catholic sense. I was mildly surprised he talked about "calling". He also shared that he made 3 vows: to be single, to be poor and to be obedient to God. He took the trouble to explain to the boys that to be single means he cannot get married and to be poor means he cannot own any property or car. Not sure what exactly was his point ;-) Ethan's P1 teacher came by to congratulate him too. She told him that she is proud of him. It made his day.
With the end of the prize-giving ceremony, the year-end school hols have officially begun. Hard to believe that my boy is going to be in P3 next year - seems so yesterday when he first entered the school gates. Ethan has adapted very well in school indeed. Am tremedously proud of him too!
