Pouring through our maps, we had planned to take the subway to Osaka Castle Park today. However, the lady at the hotel's info counter convinced us that it would only be a 15 minute walk. So we trooped down the road to the park enthusiastically. It took us a good 25 minutes!! and we concluded that it was Japanese speed the lady was referring to.
You can take a train ride (not free ok) round the park if you prefer.We walked.

After lots of walking around the castle park (we didn't go into the castle by the way because it houses a museum, displaying artefacts of Japan's bygone days), we made our way to Japan's longest shopping district - Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping District. It's a whopping 2.6 km long. Grown-ups and kids alike complained of sore feet at the end of the day. But we did get to enjoy a nice (and cheap) Japanese meal and bought lots of Meiji chocolates, yum!

There are MANY game arcades in Japan. This one that the kids are standing in front of is frequented by aunties and uncles who spend their time in front of the slot machines. Their winnings are little silver balls (comes in basket fulls!) which they will sell to another arcade for cash. Funny gaming policy but true. I dare not risk my life to get a picture of them ;-)
