We were blessed with a wonderful week in Taiwan :)

It was a 3:25am (yes, AM) flight to Taipei. This was an extra flight by China Airlines (中華航空) for travel agency bookings only. Before the trip, we had mistaken China Airlines for DragonAir (港龍航空), which Ethan took to Dalian for his immersion programme in March. Ethan warned us that "it's lousy one huh, no screen in front" lol. But China Airlines is really ok lah; besides, it's night time anyway, no need for entertainment. i love hearing the announcements being made in Mandarin and Min Nan (闽南语),so melodious :) You can forget about trying to understand the English version though, lol

Our first stop is Leofoo Village Theme Park (六福村), that is, if we don't count the stop at 7-Eleven to buy mineral water. One of the first things our tour guide told us is that water from the tap is not safe for drinking, so it was bottled water throughout our trip.

Our tour guide is 50-year-old 小陈. A colourful character but he is extremely knowledgeable about Taiwan and even Singapore. A young tour guide-to-be 小郭 shadowed him. We found out later the tour bus we were travelling in is one of the 20 owned by his father. 


六福村 is not very big; we spent most of the time at the African Safari (非洲部落) and queuing up (up to an hour) for 2 of the most challenging rides; one at the Arabian Kingdom (阿拉伯皇宫) called the Ring of Fire (风火轮) which rotates you 360 degrees and one at the Wild West (美国大西部) called the Screaming Condor (笑傲飞鹰) which makes you plunge at 90 degrees at one point!

Ewan and i went for this ride. Gosh we screamed so much when we were upside down, lol. We queued ONE hour for this ride, which was stupid but we didn't know that behind the pillar was another snaking queue.

i went with the boys on this ride. Papa was too tired so he gave it a miss. The boys couldn't stop talking about the exhilarating ride for some time :)

We were very conscious that we returned to the tour bus on time. We made it 5 minutes earlier and were so proud that we asked the tour guide if we were the first. We were actually the last!! The rest of the 32 (there were 36 of us) were too pengsan after the flight to enjoy the theme park. Most of them returned after only one hour to sleep in the bus, lol. The significant other would have loved to do that too, if not for our 2 energetic boys (who were repeated nagged at before the flight to sleep or else they wouldn't have the energy to enjoy the theme park).

After this we headed for the hotel, NOT to rest but to put our luggage in the room, before we proceed to a night market.
