Telling

Ethan was once scolded by a teacher and the episode was unfortunately witnessed by his di di who promptly reported to me when we were home :)

A few nights ago, Ethan got his "revenge" lol. Mrs T, Ethan's form teacher saw Ewan outside the staff room and told Ethan that his di di was being punished :)

Of course i didn't know anything about this incident.....yet. i've learnt and accepted that kids don't tell you everything and actually they don't need to. What they choose to tell or not to tell, how much to tell and when to tell, is a learning process for them too. With my boys, papa and i have made it clear that if they have done something wrong, they have to own up immediately. There is a time and place for sharing. We can't expect them to tell us things there and then when we ask them "How's school?"

Ewan, together with 2 other classmates, forgot to bring their art bag and as a consequence, they need to bring it the next day and show it to their art teacher. The following day, of the 3 boys who went to the staff room, one forgot to bring the art bag again and got a earful from the art teacher while the other 2 waited outside. Ewan was waiting outside the staff room when Mrs T walked past. She asked, "Punishment ah?" To which, strictly speaking, it's not mah, but Ewan gong gong replied "yes", lol. Anyway, that's how Ethan got to know about it.

i didn't nag about the incident lah. When it comes to getting ready for school, the boys know very well that they bear the consequence if they don't pack/bring the necessary stuff. i only "help" by asking "Are you set for school?" Ok, sometimes i see the wallet lying around, i ask a few more times :) The system we came up with is this:

H - Homework (includes notices/letters from school that i need to sign)
B - Bag (i.e. pack their bag according to time table)
B - Bottle
U - Uniform (they need to bring out their uniform/PE attire to the living room)
M - Money

We call it "her bum", lol. In this way, i don't nag at them at the specific item, but only need to assist by asking them if they are ready for school. There was once Ewan forgot his wallet and none of his friends loan him money, so he went without food that recess. A lesson on responsibility learnt without me nagging or yelling. Back to the art bag incident, it wouldn't help if i said "see lah". After all, the teacher had "punished" him.

As for the gor gor tattle-telling (privately, the significant and i thought that Mrs T was being kaypoh, hahahaha), we had a good laugh, the boys included.
