Being Owls

I don't believe it - this is the only pix that turn out okay!!!

Last Friday, we went to Night Safari for the first time. Frankly we wouldn't have visited it if we didn't get hold of a good half-price deal from Fai's colleague. It turned out to be a wonderful late night out for the family. We enjoyed the tram ride, the dark walking trails and a live show featuring the animals. I'm terribly impressed by the guides at the tram ride because they speak goooooood English. They alerted us to the animals on our left and right and gave a good short description about them. The boys remember these details! We saw so many animals! I've heard that it's not easy to spot them, either because the animals are sleeping or hidden. Maybe because it was full moon that night? We left 10 minutes before closing time (12 midnight) and caught the last 2nd bus to AMK. We were so hungry after the walking trails that we had supper (er, a sinful one - satay and fried carrot cake) before hailing a cab home. I think we hit the bed at about 2 am. I read somewhere that the most precious gift is an experience, not a tangible/physical one. I think it's true in this case - we will remember this family outing for a long time to come.

Back to the pix or camera. Flash photography is not allowed at the Night Safari - because you may provoke the animals mah which in turn may charge at you! (BTW we came very close to some animals during the tram ride, the tram had to stop once for a tapier to cross the road and another came just right beside us!) Where was I? oh camera. Try as we might, playing with all available functions in our supposedly sophisticated digital camera, we just couldn't take a nice pix inside the park. I was green with envy at those who were using SLRs. Sigh, thou shall not covet...but can covet photographic skills right ;-)
