This morning Fai went through a surgery to correct his sinus problem. I brought the kids to visit him in the hospital. He was bleeding through the nostrils and the dressing across his nose was changed hourly. The consultant who operated on him dropped by. He told us that the op went well. He shared that when he did such ops in Canada, his patients were discharged in the same day and they were able to return to work in a few days' time. Fai however needs to stay a night at the hospital and he will be given 2 weeks of medical leave. The doctor explained that things are done differently in Singapore. He kept reasurring us that Fai will get well in no time that I was sorely tempted to confirm with him that Fai will be physically fit to paint our flat during his medical leave ;-)
Today is also the last day of Term 3. It was Innovation & Entreprise Day at Ethan's school. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite sports or art personality. Ethan went in his only basketball outfit. We were too lazy to be creative. Besides, it's just not practical to dress up as Mozart or Leonardo da Vinci when you have to complete the tasks at the games stations set up all around the school within a stipulated time. I guess many parents thought likewise too. Most boys went to school in sports outfit (badminton, soccer, baseball & basketball were the common ones). So much for creativity.
So I will have the 3 boys at home in the coming week. The kids deserve the one week break. Fai deserves his rest after the op. My sanity would probably take a break too ;-)
