Short School Break

This week is school hols. Just one week of it. Better than none i guess.

Poor Ethan was looking forward to Job Week but again like last year, the secondary school scout that was paired with him did not call at all. We called his handphone number but couldn't get him. So i was resigned to assign chores to this cub scout. So far he has mopped the floor, hung up laundry and folded clothes. But it's just not the same as going from door to door volunteering your services for a token donation right? Papa should know, he did Job Week in his primary school years starting from P2.

As for Ewan, he was back in school on Wednesday for his Wushu lessons. So while he was away, i got to spend one-on-one time with Ethan at the park. This boy is growing up fast, it's frightening, lol.

Papa took leave on Monday cos he didn't feel like working when the rest of the family were lazing around, lol. It rained heavily that day so we didn't go out but stayed home and played Monopoly. As in any game, there will be winners and losers. Of course someone was suay enough to go to jail MANY times and someone was haolian to be able to build hotels. It's a good game to teach about cutting a good deal too. But you can't teach that to Ewan. He willingly trades his properties based on colours, lol.

This afternoon, i was at a fren's place for lunch. She is a foreigner but made Singapore her home for the past 9 years. She cooked dishes from her country and it was such a nice get-together with the other mums she invited. i wish i had pics of the food but not nice lah, to take pics on your first visit, lol. She promised to invite us again when her sisters come to visit cos they can cook very authentic national dishes. i will take some pics then ;-)

i think the reason why she integrated so well with the locals is because she volunteers at our kids' school and reach out to other mums. But the irony is that she is currently having difficulties working with another volunteer mum who is from the same country as her. Let's hope there will be some improvement in the situation when school reopens.

You had a good break too?
