On the way home from school this afternoon.
Ewan: Oh no, my teacher is going to kill me! I pass up my work without doing one question.
Me (choosing to ignore his fears of the impending assault):
It's HAND UP, not PASS UP.
You HAND IN a piece of homework.
You PASS UP on a chance to do something like express your love or clinch a deal.
Ewan: I know lah. My teacher said its gooooooood English to say HAND UP. But today she asked the class to PASS UP our work. So i use PASS UP loh.
*faint* (now that is passing OUT, wonder why the army calls it passing out parade??)
