My Type

Pastor sent me a online MBTI test via Facebook.

Since it has been quite a while i last took it, i gamely ploughed through the questions, lol.

I remembered the first time i did the MBTI. It was during uni days when a mature student (a psychologist from the States) offered us the test FOC. I was a ENTJ.

People with a preference for Extraversion draw energy from action: they tend to act, then reflect, then act further. If they are inactive, their level of energy and motivation tends to decline. Extraverts desire breadth and are action-oriented, while introverts seek depth and are thought-oriented.

Sensing and iNtuition are the information-gathering (Perceiving) functions. Those who prefer iNtuition tend to trust information that is more abstract or theoretical, that can be associated with other information (either remembered or discovered by seeking a wider context or pattern). They may be more interested in future possibilities. They tend to trust those flashes of insight that seem to bubble up from the unconscious mind.

Thinking and Feeling are decision-making (Judging) functions. Those who prefer Thinking tend to decide things from a more detached standpoint, measuring the decision by what seems reasonable, logical, causal, consistent and matching a given set of rules.

People also have a preference for using either the Judging function (Thinking or Feeling) or their Perceiving function (Sensing or iNtuition) when relating to the outside world (extraversion). TJ types tend to appear to the world as logical.
I've encountered MBTI again after that, but most of the time, my scores will indicate a ENTJ. This time however, i was a ESFJ. Basically, S people are are more likely to trust information that is in the present, tangible and concrete: that is, information that can be understood by the five senses. And F people tend to come to decisions by associating or empathizing with the situation, looking at it 'from the inside' and weighing the situation to achieve, on balance, the greatest harmony, consensus and fit, considering the needs of the people involved.

Pastor emailed me almost immediately to say that he was surprised at the results.

I'm a little surprised u came up as ESFJ. Would like you to do the proper instruement someday. I would have thought u r a Thinking type (T) or Intuitive (N). Or probably an ESFJ with a well developed Thinking function. ESFJ's makes good mom and social workers too.
Wow. I wrote to him to say my much older scores indeed indicated i'm a ENTJ. So how to make sense of the new type? Reply from the sage...

actually what that might mean is that (according to type developmental theory) you are at a stage in life when you are developing your weaker function - that of introverted sensing and extraverted feeling. You might have taken the profile with those current developments in mind.

ENTJ is quite right and I am right about your gifts. ENTJs are very capable leaders.
Aiyah we don't go about our daily lives super-conscious of our MBTI type. Pastor is just being nice in his email. To me, the new "type" means i must be getting old and mellowing, wahahahaha.
