Caught

It's one thing when your boys are avid readers, another thing when they have bad reading habits. Both usually start reading sitting up. Slowly, they will flop onto their belly. I will then remind, nag, bark, whatever, to get them to sit up again and move the book further away from their eyes. Ethan is myopic (like me) and Ewan has perfect eyesight (like papa).

An aside: When Ethan was first referred for an eye-check, a nurse did a presentation on good reading habits to a group of parents and their kids. When she came to the part on reasons for myopia and listed heredity, Ethan then only 6, eagerly interrupted the nurse to say that he got myopia from me! LoL.

Back to my story. Last night, after saying good night to the boys, I returned to my own room to read - on my belly, yes ;-) Shortly after, I heard the boys asking me something and i answered without looking at them. It did occur to me for one split second that i was on my belly but they didn't say anything and returned to their own room. And i went on reading, on my belly, yes.

This morning on the way to school...

Ethan: Mum

Me: Ya

Ethan: Last night

Me: (uh oh)

Ethan: YOU WERE LYING ON YOUR TUMMY AND READING !!!!!!!

Ewan: I SAW you too.

Me: (trying frantically to formulate a credible answer) Er, yes I did. (Smile) BUT, i was wrong kids, don't follow me ;-)

We had a good laugh.
