There were many WoWs last week but I didn't have the chance to blog (actually, too lazy). I had a great time catching up with an old friend. We knew each other in our late teens when we were in the same church. We haven't seen each other for 7-8 years. Now based in another country with her husband and kids, we had the rare opportunity to meet up when she came back for a visit. Our first remark to each other: You look just the same, lol.The above pix is of the young adults class in my church dinosaur years ago on a rough-it-out-trip at Taman Negara. My old friend and her then boyfriend now husband and me and my then boyfriend now husband were in the same trip. I have fond memories of the trip. Back then there was no internet, only teletext. I had to write (snail mail!!!) MANY weeks ahead to the authorities in Malaysia for permits to enter Taman Negara (where the highest mountain Gunung Tahan is situated. We didn't climb it but ate the ice-cream version, lol) I had to call and arrange for train tickets (Class 3 ok, we are all poor students). There was no handphone. We got lost in the jungle but found our way out. We were swarmed with leeches. BUT we had so much fun amidst nature. And yes, leeches. Once in a while, we tell our boys about it. Our boys are so familiar with our leech stories (especially how papa's pants were bloodied) that if we tell it anymore, they will probably roll their eyes ;-)
I want to say "time flies" but it's so cliche. But time really flies loh, that Taman Negara trip was made at least 15 years ago! I'm so glad that lasting relationships came out of it ;-)
