Close Shop

It has been nearly a month since I stopped my bulletin work. Truth be told, I didn't need any formal closure ;-) I've worked on it for 2 years and 1.5 years down the road, I felt ready to move on. For the past 2 years, I would anticipate Pastor's emails on the worship plans and news early in the week and do up the bulletin by Thursday night so that it could be printed by the church secretary on Friday. So it was extremely funny when I was online with Pastor last night (yes, Thursday night) that he jokingly asked if this Sunday's bulletin is ready. Aiyah, the bulletin is in good hands now, I have no worries about that. Pastor wrote me a nice appreciation note when I passed on the bulletin duty. I thought of asking him if he cc to God a copy, lol. The church gave me a nice gift, a Borders card, which I, er, haven't even have to chance to use it. But I must say it sort of brought back nice memories. When I left my second last job, my colleagues also gave me a Borders card so that I could buy the books I like and read to my heart's content.

Anyway, back to the closure topic. I stepped in to help with the bulletin when the secretary resigned. So it is not quite like the circumstances in which I started the church magazine. The call (for the church mag) was there and God equipped me. In any case, the church magazine is more fun to work on because the whole process from conceptualizing the issue to printing it, has always been a faith-filled journey for me. The teething (people) problems of the early issues were rather disheartening and they are settled now, thanks to the support of the pastors and dear sisters and the significant other of course. Nowadays, I enjoy "harassing" people to write for the magazine because in the process, I talk with them and know them better. And of course, the church magazine is only twice a year, not every week hor!

It's "close shop" as far as bulletin is concerned. But then again who knows???
