Day of Discovery

Yesterday we went to the Singapore Discovery Centre. It is located in Boon Lay, a place so far away from where I stay that it could well be the outer space. We went there primarily to try out the shooting range because I thought it would be a nice birthday treat for Fai.

It turned out that we discovered more joy from the natural surroundings of the SDC :-)

We were excited over fishes, snails, shrimps and many red-tailed dragon flies (don't know actual name but managed to get a shot at one of these quick-winged creatures).

The SDC itself is not too exciting. How exciting can it be to read about total defence, racial harmony, entrepreneurship, etc, etc? Ewan pronounced the place boring :-) He only like the 3-D movie about robots but it was only about 20 minutes. The 2-D movie called Wired To Win was a fantastic documentary on the human brain - explored through the cyclists' experience of the gruelling 3-week Tour de France. The mountainous regions of France showed up so majestically in the theatre's giant screen. I don't know why the SDC screens this movie but I came away with full of respect for all the cyclists, not only Lance Armstrong.

Some of the other things we did:

Shooting

Reading news lol

Playing interactive games

Building (demolishing) a city

So-so place can also bring WoW moments!
