i just tried a few times to get the correct login for this blog, gosh...lol
Well, that shows how long i haven't been blogging. Not for want of things to blog about, but i've really been trying to calibrate or rather re-calibrate my life...
A friend asked if i was doing a marathon again this year. i'm not. And that is part of the problem, lol. i felt rather lost at the beginning of the year cos i don't have a meaningful goal to work towards. The marathon goal last year was to mark my 40th birthday and although i wasn't like living and breathing running, it was on the whole a focused journey last year. i'm not running a marathon this year. But even if i were to run, i think i would still feel the way i was feeling at the start of the year... Calamities in Japan and serious health challenges of people i know have added to the sense of direction-less. And then there are other stuff...
While i can't really pinpoint what would help in my situation, i know what doesn't. It's not about doing another marathon or having new quests. i just started a part-time teaching assignment at a polytechnic and i love it! While it requires focus and preparation like my marathon training did, it doesn't quite give me the same "feel". Ethan is taking PSLE this year and i have set out things to do with him, but it's just not it.
Maybe inspiration is the word. When was the last time you felt inspired, utterly moved, to pursue something?
Recently i'm reading a book "Less is More" - a collection of essays on embracing simplicity in our lives. From individual change to policies that affect the economy, these essays argue that having and doing with less, in fact frees you to have more time for building relationships and communities. The consequence is a healthier planet, a more caring economy and a lasting happiness...
The ideas in the book are new to me. i've since added to my vocabulary words like voluntary simplicity and sustainable living and have also come to read of people from all walks of life devoted to simplicity movement. i'm eager to find out more too. Am i inspired? Rather, i must say. But whether i'm embracing it like the way i'm focused on the marathon last year, remains to be seen.
Ah, it feels good to ramble on in my own blog, lol
i must really reconnect with this old friend once again....
