Surprise! (Well, Almost)

 

That's the significant other and me in the ferry ride to Batam. The significant other surprised me with this trip to celebrate my birthday :)

i am very touched cos this has been and still is a busy period at work for the significant other. To plan for this surprise weekend getaway without the kids for the first time, he had to make sure first and foremost, i am available, lol and secondly, the boys are looked after. He first asked me if i'm free on 26 March and i thought ok, sure, it must be to celebrate my birthday. However, just a week before, i received a notice of a workshop in the boys' school and i casually asked if it's ok for me to attend the workshop in the morning, thinking that we must be going for dinner. Oh no, cannot, he said, and that's when i suspected something more. i probed and he bo pian so told me that we will be away for the nite as well.

Being er, me, i had to make sure the arrangements for the boys are ok. As it is, the boys didn't want to stay over at my sister's as was arranged between the significant other and my sis and preferred to be home alone. So it was then settled that my brother spend time with them on Saturday and my sister pick them up for church on Sunday.

i wasn't worried about the boys, knowing that they are in good hands. But i did miss them for a couple of seconds the minute we said bye at the door, lol. And throughout the trip, Ewan sms me a few times to either report what he was doing, or ask what i was doing and we called home in the night as well. (i don't think i dare to see the phone bill later)

Oh well, it was still considered a surprise trip lah, cos i didn't know where we were heading, until we reached Harbour Front. We took a 45 minute ferry ride to Batam and checked into a suite at a city hotel. We did the usual holiday stuff like swimming, massage, shopping and eating. But the huge difference is of course it was very precious couple time where we only have each other for company :)
