| Hair for Hope by Children's Cancer Foundation |
This morning at the Hair for Hope event at my boys' school. More than 100 boys and their parents were to have their heads shaved to raise awareness and funds for the Children's Cancer Foundation.
Only Ewan volunteered :) The Significant Other, Gor Gor and myself decided we can contribute in monetary terms instead, lol
| 2 other schools joined in for the first time. All shavees are seated on the steps at the back of the pic. |
At the start of the event, a volunteer from the Children's Cancer Foundation shared a touching story of her own daughter who has leukemia and urged all the students to have compassion for children suffering from cancer and not laugh at their baldness.
The principals of the other 2 visiting schools shaved ! but not our principal cos she is a lady, lol. However, she offered to donate $5 for every shavee from the school and this morning she presented a cheque of $600 plus.
One of the visiting school is a mixed school and only one girl volunteered. Of course she gets to have her hair shaved first with all the cameras on her. Brave girl :)
Speaking of which, 2 mummies from our school shaved. Brave mums - i salute you! Here is one of them.
It was a long long wait till Ewan's turn cos according to the principal, this year the CCF arranged for ITE hairdressing students do the job instead of professionals. The ITE students were (too) careful lah. One teacher from the visiting school took up the shaving job too cos they have to hurry and bring their students back to their school for some to them to catch the school bus home! But i see she is very competent lah. One of my mummy friends also wanted to volunteer to shave the students' hair cos it was such a longgggg wait, lol
