i "found" her 2 years ago via Facebook. She is my band mate in Secondary School. It's funny how things worked. My friends at church who started a group to help the disabled, were just talking about the craft from my friend's shop and how the disabled can make them for sale, when i said, "Hey, i know the boss" :) i linked both parties and as a result, my friends could purchase the materials at a discount, which was very helpful cos the materials are expensive.
Today i read in my friend's email to all those in her business mailing list, of how she first courageously took the plunge despite so many unknowns. She thanked her husband for his support and encouragement. And most moving of all, is how her only daughter became an integral part of the business right from the start - helping out and being the source of inspiration of the many craft creations.
Darling, you asked me when you were 8, "Mummy, when you die, can I be the boss of xxxx?" I think you'll be able to comprehend this answer now, at 11, "Love, the empire has been built in your heart, and has been weaved into the love and bond between you and me. Thanks love, you've been the soul of this biz.
In contrast, one friend, approaching 50 lamented that he had wanted to publish a book when he is 40. 40 came and went and by his own admission, he has been too caught up with work. That's scary cos a whole TEN years came and went!
i know lah, it's like comparing apple and orange. But if i were to choose, i'd rather be in the shoes of the first friend mentioned.
At least, she has fulfilled her dream :)
Another friend posted this link today
Scary, LOL
