Summary

Summary of last week. For VARIOUS reasons, I didn't get the chance to post. Here goes:

Two Saturdays back (21 July), we got a copy of the last Harry Potter book. While we (as in Fai & I) bought all the previous 6 books, this last one is a birthday gift from my brother to Ethan. So, unfortunately, I could only read the book when Ethan was not reading. It was an enjoyable read though rather cheesy at the end (it's a children's book after all). Ethan has since finished reading it and while he enjoyed it, he also felt sad that there is no more Harry Potter books to look forward to. I on the other hand, feel that 7 is just right. Ethan found a solution to his problem - he declared to his younger brother that he would just need to re-read the 7 books when he is a teenager ;-)

Last Friday Ewan didn't need to go to school and we spent a nice morning together. I didn't plan anything special. I did what I would be doing had he been in school. Ewan looked for paints and amused himself for a long time. I checked on him on and off and thought how precious it was just to be there to witness his concentration on his creative work. A blessed morning! I remember feeling how good it is to be a stay-home mum.

This afternoon at lunch, our church friend started to ask me for advice regarding childcare arrangements when he stopped short because he remembered I am a stay-home mum. Ethan overheard us saying something about being a full-time mum and interrupted us saying that I couldn't be a "full-time" mum when he spends half a day at school. LOL. While I find his logic highly amusing, another church friend who heard the account slightly later took the "defensive" stance - told me to tell Ethan that I have to do ironing, cooking etc during his half-day at school. I didn't feel the need to "defend" my case. On the contrary, I'm glad he sees that I can be something else besides being a mum (even if it means being something else only when he is in school)!
