Ewan turns 5 today! Ethan who is usually not very generous towards his younger brother where toys are concerned, announced yesterday night that he wished to buy Ewan a gift with his own money. For the record, he hasn't got much because he doesn't get pocket money on days that we pack food for him to bring to school (often the case). To my surprise, he first asked Ewan what kind of toys he would like (Ewan wanted the transformer-kind) and then proceeded to count out a quarter of his savings to be set aside for this purpose. He was so excited this morning when we went to the neighbourhood centre to pick up a toy (Ewan was in school). He chose a gift which met his and his brother's expectations. Ewan thanked Ethan for the gift and solemnly told him that when he gets pocket money in Primary One (one year away), he too will buy Ethan a birthday gift. Without hesitation, Ethan told him that he likes toys that could be built/put together from scratch. The two boys are now playing happily together, and i say WOW to that.
