On Writing

Ethan's writing assignments have been quite interesting. About 2 weeks back, he was to continue a story about a prince (medieval, i supposed) who has special powers and then illustrate the story in 10 what-you-call-that empty squares?? Anyway, he was very enthu about the assignment and read to me his story once completed. The prince in his story rescued his mother whom he thought was dead but was imprisoned by demons or was it monsters, either one.

After listening, i jokingly asked where is his damsel in distress? You cannot end your story with "and they lived happily ever after" when your rescue mission involves your mother, lol. We had a good laugh over this but i made it a point to tell him that girls are NOT weaklings ;-) as so often stereotyped in such stories. No, they are quite capable of rescuing themselves, thank you. LoL

Ewan got interested and wanted to write and illustrate his own story. He asked his brother how to start the story huh. Ethan said, "aiyah, either once upon a time or a long time ago, or a long, long time ago in a faraway land". LoL. Ewan said ok and then read as he wrote:

"Once upon a time in the Land of Distress..."

hahahahaha

This afternoon, Ethan whined that he has a silly assignment - choose to write on either how to clean an aquarium or how to wrap a parcel. He told me he knows neither so how in the world is he going to write?? That funny boy said he only knows how to read but it's silly to write about that coz it will only consist of one sentence....How to read? You just .......read lah. LoL.

Writing is so fun hoh?

Go find a gift wrapping book in the library. They practically tell everything about wrapping boxes of all shapes (in writing...:0)); as for aquarium .. no clue???
