This is a typical marathon training plan.
Don't bother to make sense of it.
Cos it's in miles.
NOT km.
For the longest time, i find it strange that the running trail near my place is 1.6km. Sometimes i find it irritating cos i need to do multiplication in my head on how much i ran or still need to cover. i hate to do multiplication let alone do it while i'm panting, lol. To run a 10km for instance, i need to run 6 rounds and 400m more. So lehcheh lah.
But when i was training for the 16km run some time back, i realised the convenience :) i basically aimed to cover 10 rounds. Such simple math, lol
Now as i'm preparing for marathon, my slow mind finally awakened to the fact that 1.6km equals to 1 mile and that the trail is made to measure for me, LOL
So when i look at training plans, and if it says run 12 miles, i now clever already: immediately i know it means 12 rounds lor.
Looking at training plans for beginner runners like me is daunting enough. i only find pleasure in the advice that almost always accompanies the plan: be flexible; know your body, etc
i know my body very well thank you and i can't possibly run 5 days a week even with 2 rest days in between. So i've long decided to be flexible.
i run in miles now.
