Yesterday i spoke with a fren who ran his first marathon at the age of 39. He is in the mid 50s now. He told me the year he ran his first marathon was also the year he tried the vertical marathon. While i don't think i'm being persuaded to try out the vertical marathon....yet, i am inspired to run a marathon.
i shall attempt a half marathon (21 km) year end, and a full marathon (42 km) end of 2011. i think if i ever complete the full distance, it will be a nice birthday present to myself in 2012 in which i would be turning 42.
OCD, lol
Anyway, i usually borrow a magazine Runners' World from the library. It is filled with inspiring articles on ordinary people who love to run. Indeed, for my case, it was never about winning, i don't have the liao anyway. It's about the sense of achievement in completing a run, in pushing myself to a further distance bit by bit.
Another fren who was also in the conversation joked that completing a marathon will never be in his list of To Do Things before he says bye bye to this world :) Does it really mean so much to me to run a marathon in my lifetime? i think at this point in time, it does, cos i have a goal to work towards. It means a lot to a 40-year-old, you know, LOL
